Off-odor leads to sandwich meat recall in Canada

Off-odor

Chris P. Food Distribution Inc. is recalling Classic Philly Steak brand Sandwich Slices Seasoned Glazed Beef because of an off-odor.

According to the details published by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the recalled products were distributed in Quebec, Canada.

An off odor is an indication that meat may have spoiled and should be discarded. A smell test is one of the simplest ways to assess whether meat is still safe to eat. Fresh ground beef has little to no noticeable smell, whereas spoiled meat emits a strong, sour, and unpleasant odor. Consuming spoiled meat can result in foodborne illness and other serious health risks.
